FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

Answers to the practical questions teams usually ask before discussing a Bitcoin Lightning, stablecoin settlement or payment operating model project with MetaNord.

What MetaNord does

What does MetaNord do?

MetaNord is an infrastructure and implementation partner for Bitcoin Lightning and stablecoin payment operations. We help teams map payment flows, assign provider responsibilities, define treasury and reconciliation logic, and prepare operating documentation.

Who is MetaNord most relevant for?

MetaNord is most relevant for fintechs, PSPs, exchanges, merchants, digital platforms and finance or operations teams evaluating Lightning or stablecoin settlement workflows before committing to a production model.

Is MetaNord a bank, exchange or licensed financial institution?

No. MetaNord is not a bank, exchange, broker, custodian, wallet provider, stablecoin issuer, payment institution, EMI or licensed financial institution. We work alongside your internal teams and selected licensed or regulated counterparties.

Does MetaNord hold funds, operate wallets or issue stablecoins?

No. MetaNord does not hold client or customer funds, issue stablecoins, provide custody or operate wallets for clients. Our work is focused on infrastructure design, coordination, implementation support and operating documentation.

Who provides regulated services if they are required?

Regulated activities and financial services remain with the client's selected licensed providers where required, such as PSPs, banks, exchanges, custodians or other regulated counterparties.

Lightning and stablecoins

Can MetaNord help us evaluate Bitcoin Lightning?

Yes. We help map payment use cases, transaction volumes, counterparties, provider options, treasury implications, reconciliation needs and compliance-aware operating requirements.

Do we need to run our own Lightning node?

Not always. The right model depends on provider choice, custody boundaries, operational control requirements, risk policy, technical capability and reporting needs. MetaNord helps evaluate the operating model without forcing one architecture.

Can MetaNord help with stablecoin payment flows?

Yes. We support stablecoin workflow design, provider responsibility mapping, treasury process design, reporting and reconciliation structure and operating documentation. We do not issue stablecoins, provide custody, operate wallets, act as a broker or provide regulated payment services.

How does MetaNord help with provider selection?

We help compare provider models, responsibility boundaries, reporting surfaces, treasury implications, onboarding requirements and operational fit. Final provider decisions and regulated services remain with the client and its selected counterparties.

Implementation model

How do treasury, reconciliation and reporting fit into the work?

They are part of the operating model from the start. MetaNord helps define treasury coordination, payment references, reconciliation records, reporting cadence, exception handling and the evidence finance and operations teams need to review.

Can MetaNord work with our existing PSP, banking, accounting or ecommerce systems?

Yes. We design around existing systems where practical and help define where payment events, references, reconciliation records and reporting outputs should connect across the operating flow.

Can you work with finance, operations, compliance and engineering teams?

Yes. MetaNord is designed to work across product, engineering, finance, treasury, operations and compliance so that the final flow is understandable and maintainable by the people who operate it.

What does a typical engagement produce?

Typical outputs may include flow maps, a provider responsibility matrix, operating model notes, treasury and reconciliation logic, an exception handling model, a testing and go-live checklist and handover or runbook documentation.

Engagement and governance

How does an engagement usually start?

It usually starts with a focused discovery conversation about your current payment flows, target use case, providers, internal stakeholders, constraints and desired operating outcome.

How long does an initial discovery or implementation phase take?

Initial discovery can usually be scoped as a short focused phase. Full implementation depends on providers, integrations, internal approvals, compliance requirements and the maturity of the existing payment and reporting environment.

What documentation do you provide?

Documentation can include payment flow maps, provider responsibilities, control points, treasury processes, reconciliation logic, exception handling, access rules and operating runbooks.

How do you approach governance and auditability?

We define ownership boundaries, approval paths, data records, reporting cadence and reviewable operating evidence as part of the target operating model, not as an afterthought.

NOT SURE WHICH FLOW FITS?

We can help map the payment flow, provider responsibilities and operating handover before implementation decisions are made.
